Security System Technician

Western Connecticut State University is currently accepting applications for a Security System Technician who will provide technical support in the installation, maintenance, and repair of on-campus security systems, access control systems, CCTV systems, and the University One-Card Network. Responsibilities include diagnosing and correcting problems with the network’s electronic systems and software; Minor access control installations, replacement of peripheral devices such as card reader, cameras, and electronic locking devices; conducting training for end users; supervising students and other part-time employees; updating and revising policies and procedures; and working cooperatively with the University’s IT Department on related network issues and firmware upgrades. Regular work hours will be 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday through Friday, but subject to change to meet the business needs of the University. Will be on-call as necessary with some overtime and beginning of semester peaks which may include 8AM to 8PM work hours. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related security field plus 3 years of experience diagnosing, repairing, and installing security systems and access control systems required. Must have experience with C-Cure or other access control products. Experience with Intellex CCTV and CS-Gold one card system a plus. Must be quality oriented and have good follow-up skills. Must be able to multi-task and be able to follow policies and procedures. Strong written and oral communications skills are required as is a valid driver’s license. A background investigation will be conducted. Starting salary range $42,667-48,612 plus excellent benefit package.
