IT 222 - Introduction to Information Security Policy and Management

Security policies, mandatory and discretionary access control, Chinese walls, separation of duties and least privilege, security objectives, architectures, models and mechanisms. Privacy policy and technologies. Social implications of biometric identification. Intellectual property protection in cyberspace.
The course will use the process of certification and accreditation of a system or application to examine the impacts of security policies at various points during the system life cycle.
Students are expected to apply (on a smaller scale) the certification and accreditation process covered during the class to their home computer system. You need to be able to download documents from the World Wide Web, use e-mail, and install applications and vendor patches.
